Termite Control with Termidor
Termidor is a revolutionary new termiticide that works in an entirely different way from older, "chemical barrier" type products. Termidor doesn't just place an obstacle in termites' path: Termidor goes right to the heart of a termite infestation and eliminates a termite colony at its source.
How the Termidor Transfer Effect Works
Unlike older termiticides, Termidor is completely non-repellent to termites: They can't see it, smell it, or taste it, therefore they don't avoid it. In fact, they actively carry it back to their nests, where it kills the entire colony in three months or less.
Once a termite has ingested or contacted Termidor-treated material with its body, it becomes a "carrier." Every termite it contacts will be infected and will in turn infect every termite it contacts. But Termidor works slowly, letting termites contact many others before dying themselves.
The graphic on the right illustrates how Termidor is transferred between members of a colony. Because of the highly organized caste system in a termite colony, not every termite forages in the same location (nor does every termite forage at all, for that matter).
But termites are social insects who groom each other and who communicate through a highly developed system of chemical messengers. And all this grooming and talking means that termites also touch each other a lot. It's through this touching that Termidor is transferred from termites who have directly contacted the termiticide, to other termites in the colony, eventually killing every termite in the colony.
Speed and Effectiveness
Although the Termidor effect on individual termites is intentionally slow, the overall colony management is fast. In fact, Termidor works up to 6 times faster than termite bait/monitoring systems.
Not only does it deliver rapid control of termites; Termidor is also effective. In more than eight years of field trials with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service, Termidor has eliminated 100 percent of subterranean termites in all tests, in all geographic locations, in all soil types, and in all climates. No other product can make this claim.
But the real test is in real-world use, where Termidor has delivered excellent results in more than 700,000 homes treated throughout the United States since its launch in March 2000.
